Fairfield County continues to enjoy a rich tradition of agriculture production. As fall harvest rapidly approaches, make plans to join us for a "Taste" of Fairfield County's Agriculture at the Home of Joy Farm on September 3rd begining at 4:00 p.m.

Much like past years, participants will have the opportunity to get a diverse sampling of the many different segments of the agriuclutre industry we enjoy. In addition to getting a close up look at one of the county's horse farms, those who attend will also get a 'taste' of beef fajitas prepared by the Fairfield County Cattlemen, apples from Hugus Fruit Farm, sausage from Bay Food Market, herbal treats from Shultz Valley Farms and lamb & berry products from Ruffwing Farms plus much, much more from over 30 exhibitors.

In addition, the Cronin’s will be offering tours of their Home of Joy horse barns, the petting farm and horseback riding demonstrations. The Home of Joy Farm is a 60 acre horse boarding and horseback riding lesson facility newly built in 2011.

A highlight of this year’s event will be the Ohio State University Meat Science department preparing some of their specialty products on the grill, as well as answering questions from visitors about how it was prepared and also how to economize meat purchase dollars when visiting your local food market.

Tickets for this event are FREE and available at OSU Extension, Soil and Water, Bay’s Food Market and the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce office.  Please bring your tickets to the event, and turn them in at the registration table for the opportunity to be placed in a drawing for one of two smokers and meat baskets being given away by Fairfield County Farm Bureau.

Hours for the event are from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Thursday, September 3.  Don't miss this opportunity to visit directly with those who grow the food you eat!
