Plans for the Fairfield County Jr. Fair ‘live’ market swine, swine MQP, ‘live’ lamb, lamb MQP, ‘live’ goat and dairy feeder check-in on June 27 at the Fairgrounds have been finalized. For 2026, there will be no early, on-farm check-ins and all animals must come to the Fairgrounds on June 27.
As in the past, exhibitors are responsible for seeing their animals are tagged with an EID tag prior to arrival at the Fairgrounds on June 27. For those animals not presently having an 840 EID ear tag, tags and taggers are available from the Ohio State University Extension office in Lancaster. Prior to June 27 exhibitors with pigs (both for live and MQP exhibit), market lambs (both for live and MQP exhibit), market goats (for live exhibit) and dairy beef feeders must schedule a time for Saturday morning June 27th to have their animals checked-in (see more detail for each species below).
On June 27 all gates to the Fairgrounds will be open. There will be a car show on the south side of the grounds on the 27th. When possible please avoid entering or exiting the Fairgrounds through the Broad Street/Fair Avenue gate and also be respectful of others who will be on the grounds that day.
Upon entering the Fairgrounds livestock trailers and/or trucks are to proceed to the driveway on the west side of the racetrack and south of the Ed Sands Building. From there you will be directed to the appropriate building(s) to have your animal(s) checked-in. See the map linked here, and find written directions for each livestock species below:
- Swine MQP: MQP pigs will be weighed in on June 27 at the Fairgrounds between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Upon entering the Fairgrounds proceed to the driveway on the west side of the racetrack and south of the Ed Sands Building and you will be directed from there to the Swine Barn. MQP swine exhibitors who are also checking in pigs for the “live” show will have their “live” pigs checked in at the same time and building as the MQP pigs are weighed and need not go through the Ed Sands Building. (Exhibitors who have pigs intended for the ‘live’ show and not participating in MQP will go through the Ed Sands Building – see below.) Prior to Friday, June 26 swine MQP exhibitors are asked to schedule a time for arrival at the Fairgrounds on the 27th by following this link: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aWb5RP2s8IpzsR8. When scheduling on-line, MQP exhibitors will be asked to submit their pigs’ EID 840 numbers and housing information. MQP exhibitors who also have pigs to be checked in for the “live” show only need this one scheduled time for their MQP and live pigs.
- Pigs being checked in for only the ‘live’ show in October: With the exception of exhibitors with MQP pigs (see Swine MQP above), all pigs intended to be exhibited live at the Fair will be checked-in at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 27 between 7 a.m. and 11.m. in the Ed Sands Building. Upon entering the Fairgrounds proceed to the driveway on the west side of the racetrack and south of the Ed Sands Building and you will be directed from there into the Ed Sands Building for check-in. Prior to Friday, June 26 swine exhibitors are asked to schedule a time for arrival at the Fairgrounds on the 27th by following this link: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0OprNXaVdmWwh70. When scheduling on-line, swine exhibitors will be asked to submit their pigs’ EID 840 numbers and housing information.
- Market and MQP lambs: Lambs will be checked-in at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 27 between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Prior to Friday, June 26 lamb exhibitors are asked to schedule a time for arrival at the Fairgrounds on the 27th by following this link: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1TirBYWqsX4Gg1o. When scheduling online, lamb exhibitors will be asked to submit their lamb EID 840 numbers, the scrapie tag numbers and housing information. Upon entering the Fairgrounds proceed to the driveway on the west side of the racetrack and south of the Ed Sands Building and you will be directed from there into the Sheep/Goat Barn for check-in. Lambs for MQP will also be weighed at this time.
- Market goats for the ‘live’ show in October: Goats will be checked-in at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 27 between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Prior to Friday, June 26 goat exhibitors are asked to schedule a time for arrival at the Fairgrounds on the 27th by following this link: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6fZALFnTTWD3LX8. When scheduling on-line, goat exhibitors will be asked to submit their goat EID 840 numbers, the scrapie tag numbers and housing information. Upon entering the Fairgrounds proceed to the driveway on the west side of the racetrack and south of the Ed Sands Building and you will be directed from there into the AAA Building for check-in.
- Dairy beef feeders: Dairy beef feeders will be checked-in and weighed at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 27 between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the Swine Barn. Upon entering the Fairgrounds proceed to the driveway on the west side of the racetrack and south of the Ed Sands Building and you will be directed from there to the Swine Barn. Prior to Friday, June 27 Dairy Beef Feeder exhibitors are asked to schedule a time for arrival at the Fairgrounds on the 27th by following this link: https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8iYJlTVAfo0zff0. When scheduling on-line, Dairy Beef Feeder exhibitors will be asked to submit their EID 840 numbers and housing information.
All Exhibitors: If exhibitors are bringing more than one species on the same trailer load to check-in on June 27, you are advised to plan at least 15 to 30 minutes between each species for scheduling purposes.
