OSU Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educator Shannon Carter will teach participants how the drying process preserves foods, how to blanch vegetables before drying, and how to safely store dried foods.     This year's Master Gardener Tomato Tasting program will be held at the Fairfield County Ag Center located at the 831 College Avenue, Lancaster. Bring us your most favorite tomato variety and we will see how well it stacks up with other tomato varieties offered for tasting. It should be a fun evening of learning and sharing.

    Enjoy a hands-on jam making workshop, plus learn more about basic home food preservation using the water bath canning method. Discover that water bath canning is safe for acidic foods such as fruits and tomatoes. Participants will make strawberry jam. In addition, safe use of the water bath canning method will be taught. All equipment will be provided . . . just attend, learn, and leave with a jar of freshly preserved jam. OSU Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educator Shannon Carter will serve as the instructor.
