    Exhibitors and their guests will join us at the OSU Meat Science lab to review the barrow carcasses and go over the results of the contest. OSU Extension Swine Specialist Dr. Steve Moeller will lead the program, offer comments and answer questions. Refreshments prepared by OSU Meat Science students are compliments of Faler Feed Store in Lithopolis.

    The Swine MQP program concludes one week prior to the Fair on Sunday, September 30, at the Fairgrounds.

    Exhibitors and their guests are invited to join us in the cooler to review the lamb carcasses and go over the results of the contest.

    On Sunday, September 23, the lambs in the MQP program must arrive at the Fairgrounds by 1 p.m. for weigh-in.

    See first hand how and where your food is grown. Enjoy a tour of Hugus Fruit Farm hosted by Ralph and Nancy Beth Hugus and sponsored by Ohio State University Extension in Fairfield County. Apples aren't the only crop cultivated at Hugus Fruit Farm! Walk the orchard with us and see how apples, peaches, pears, plums and more are managed, harvested and marketed fresh at the farm. Plus, you'll get to see their cider press.

    Drying is one of the oldest methods of preserving foods! OSU Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educator Shannon Carter will teach participants how the drying process preserves foods, how to blanch vegetables before drying, and how to safely store dried foods. This class is free, and designed for people who want to learn more about basic food preservation using dehydration methods.     This year's Master Gardener Tomato Tasting program will be held at the Fairfield County Ag Center located at the 831 College Avenue, Lancaster. Bring us your most favorite tomato variety and we will see how well it stacks up with other tomato varieties offered for tasting. It should be a fun evening of learning and sharing.
