    Are you planning to preserve summer produce?  Join us for any or all of the following preserving programs presented by Shannon Carter, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator and Sandy Bohl, Instructor, with Ohio State University Extension Fairfield County. Classes will be offered in person at both the Wagnalls Memorial Library and Fairfield County District Library – Main  Branch.

  2. Jun. 09, 2022 5:00pm to 9:00pm

    4-H supporters can enjoy a night out to at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds on June 9. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m., followed by dinner catered by Bob’s Backyard BBQ at 6 p.m. The program and live auction will commence at 7 p.m. Event tickets are $50 per person, and table sponsorships that seat eight are available for $500. Event reservations are due May 25, 2022.

    Schaffner's Drive In will donate 15% of the total purchase to the Fairfield County Junior Leaders 4-H Club. The Junior Leaders are a countywide teen leadership group that focuses on 4-H community service, leadership, and more! Their big events include planning the Fairfield County 4-H Advisor's Banquet, a county 4-H Scholarship, and the Bottle Cap Bench Project! Thank you for the support!

    Join OSU Extension-Fairfield County for the return of the Local Foods Farm Tour Series. Our first location will be Schultz Valley Farms, 424 Zion Rd SE, Lancaster. On Thursday, May 26th at 6:00 p.m. Schultz Valley Farms raises a variety of produce, meat, and eggs using sustainable growing practices. This family farm offers weekly farm shares through their CSA program.

    Fairfield County Master Gardener Volunteers invite you back to “Dig Into Gardening” a half day educational seminar. Pam Bennett, State Master Gardener Volunteer Director will kick off the event by helping us discover some new and underused perennials. We will also learn a bit more about annuals that will offer the “Wow” factor to your landscape.  Fairfield County Extension Educator, Carrie Brown will discuss the Spotted Lanternfly.

    Spring is a special time of the year to be in the woods! Many of its early occupants such as our state wildflower, White Trillium, are ephemeral in nature and won’t be here long! Join OSU Extension and Fairfield County Park District, with special permission from Coyote Run, as we embark on a spring scavenger hunt and hike.  A brief outdoor presentation on spring ephemerals will be followed by a spring woodland hike. Boots are advised, and please dress for the weather. Please note: Registration is limited to 24 participants.

    The Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Persticide Regulation, will be in the Ag Center on Thursday, March 31st to offer Private Pesticide and Fertilizer certification TESTING in all categories. Please call the OSU Extension office (740-653-5419) or go here as soon as possible to make your reservation.

    Join the Ohio State University Extension office in Fairfield County as we team up with the Ohio Farm Bureau and Fairfield Soil and Water Conservation District to discuss nuisance wildlife management in an agricultural setting. This workshop will explore methods of preventing and resolving conflicts with wildlife and will provide guidance on relevant laws & regulations, control techniques, and necessary licensing and permits.
