Cull cows make up 20% or more of the revenue for a cow-calf operation. Today cull cows are more valuable than ever before given limited supply. However many cull cows are discounted due to improper body condition, inadequate muscling, or other defects. Join OSU Extension for a two-part program where we will evaluate live cows and follow them to the cooler and observe their carcasses in order to assess value and discuss available opportunities when marketing cows. We will also cover cull cow markets and the economics of adding value to cull animals.

Attention home canners… Dial gauge pressure canners should be tested annually to ensure accuracy and safety in food preservation. Over time, the gauge can become inaccurate, leading to under-processing or over-processing of food, both of which can be harmful. Testing ensures the canner reaches the correct pressure and temperature for safe food preservation. Pressure canners with weighted gauges do not need to be tested. You only need to bring the pressure canner lid with dial gauge to be tested.
