In its purest sense, this stop on the Local Foods Farm Tour series deviates a bit from what you'll see at the other stops. Regardless, we think you'll enjoy this one too!
Mike Thomas is 'growing' his own electricity on the farm. See his solar panel and learn how and why it was installed.
Featured speaker for this tour stop is Eric Romich, OSU Extension Field Specialist in Energy Development. Romich will discuss a variety of topics related to using alternative energy in farming operations including: (A) How to obtain funding for solar and wind energy. (B) The tax implications and status of current energy credits (c) How to realistically calculate the payback time for investing in solar panels.
Both Romich and Thomas will be available for a question and answer period following the tour and presentations. Participants should be prepared for a short walk to view the solar panels and may also wish to bring lawn chairs for the presentations.
Like the other stops in this series, this program is sponsored by Ohio State University Extension in Fairfield County.
Know your farmer, know your food! Join us for an evening exploring the on-farm creation of electricity. Reservations are not required, but are appreciated by contacting Kelley at OSU Extension (740-652-7263).
If you've ever considered the use of solar energy to create your own electricty, this is a rare opportunity to have all your questions answered.
