During this 2017 Agronomy Day the focus will be on input cost trends - particularly cash rent and seed costs - and also nitrogen management that allows optimum corn yields under appropriate application rates and techniques. Special guest presenters will include Barry Ward, OSU Extension Production Business Management Leader, and Dr. Ed Lentz, Extension Educator in Ag and Natural Resources.
Participants may also receive their Agricultural Fertilizer Certification by their attendance. Ohio farmers who manage and farm 50 acres or more, and apply their own bulk or sidedress fertilizers, are required to have a Fertilizer Certification by September 2017 in order to continue to apply those fertilizers. This will likely be one of the last opportunities locally to acquire this certification free of charge, and without being required to take a test.
Participants should bring a recent soil test report with them to the program, and also their Pesticide Applicator Certification license number, if they have one.
